Build a Word Castle is a free browser-based word puzzle game inspired by classic word-square puzzles and the modern letter-guessing logic of Wordle-style games. The 2309 words in Wordle are used to form the squares in this game.
The goal in this main version is to reveal and complete two connected word squares: two 5×5 integrated word squares forming the castle side towers (only 5 unique words). Each horizontal word is guessed one row at a time, and building blocks are placed as you solve words. Correct words are also revealed in the vertical direction, adding letters to helping you solve the rest. In this version only, the game state is saved, so you can leave and come back to the same game.
The puzzle rewards deduction, vocabulary, pattern recognition, and a bit of playful experimentation. There is no timer, no login, no tracking — just a little brain exercise.
Word squares are fascinating because each word intersects both horizontally and vertically. This makes solving one part reveal clues for the next — like building stone by stone.

Yes. The game is completely free to play and does not require registration, login, or subscription.
The game uses interconnected word squares, where solving a horizontal word also contributes letters vertically. This structure provides a layered, deductive solving experience rather than isolated word guessing.
No. There are no timers or speed-based scoring mechanisms. Players can proceed at whichever pace feels comfortable. However in the quicker versions, if you refresh your browser, you will lose your progress in that game.
No. Build a Word Castle runs directly in the browser on both mobile devices and desktop computers.
If your device has a physical keyboard, you can use it, or the built-in keyboard. The built-in keyboard will show the letters in, and not in the words. The wrong letters are grey, the in letters are gold. To use this keyboard feedback most effectively, you may want to work on one word at a time, otherwise it may get confusing. The game doesn't force you to use legitimate words, so you can enter common letters (ie: e,a,r,o,t,i,l,s etc.) to help you deduce the correct answers. Use the letters from words you've already solved to guide your next letter guesses.
You will get better as you develop a solving strategy.
